Album: Gods of Forever

Year:
Label(s):
Genre(s):

This was a concept album based on a fictional story by Michael Daimon.  It's about a man who wakes up with amnesia and slowly regains his memory only to find out he's a 400 year old warrior from the Black Sea region.

The tale starts in the song 'Gods of Forever' where he wakes up from a deep sleep, not knowing how he got there, who he is, etc.  He starts to remember that he's some sort of immortal warrior and has a clouded past.

'My Resurrection' is where he realizes who he is and he tries to come to grips with his immortality.

'Tides of Uncleanliness' is where he finds out all the grisly things he did when he was mortal and doesn't want to live anymore.  He attempts suicide on many occassions to no avail.  He has to try and live with the fact that he can't die.

The instrumental sounds like a death march and basically is a mental visual of his dealings on the battlefield.

'Winter in the Land of Hopelessness' is where he remembers his past being a mercenary for hire and later becoming a feared warrior and lord of his land.  His neighbors, fearing that he'd take over their lands, plot to overthrow him during a Turkish invasion.  During the last battle, he goes into a blind rage, killing anyone in his path.  After the carnage, he is the only one left standing in a field of corpses that has stained the snow covered hills red with blood.

'Labyrinthine' is the conclusion of the story.  He finds out that he was struck down after the battle by an archangel of Heaven. Breaking an divine agreement that God cannot interfere with Man's affairs, the archangel flew down from Heaven and ended his life without thought of the consequences.  The Devil, seeing an opportunity to make God look bad, confronts God and God agrees to the Devil bringing the man back to life.

What God didn't realize was the Devil makes the man immortal and therefore cannot be killed again. Having realized all of this, the warrior goes out into the desert to seek out his killer.  He does and he kills the archangel.

Having avenged his own death, he is still left with the curse of immortality and is now doomed to walk the Earth until the end of all things.

The album is a balanced mix of European influenced melodic death metal and classical music.  The classical music is more present in the instrumentals but can also be found in some of the other songs like 'My Resurrection.'

It has received great reviews despite not being a signed release.  The band broke up in mid 2000.
