Band: Banshee
Not to many metal bands really ever made the same impact as Banshee did in the mid 80's. They appeared on Metal Blades metal massacre series which helped them land a deal with Atlantic Records. Banshee in the early days before signing played pure tradional US power metal, then leaned a little more to the commercial end with their major label debut "Race Against Time". Although it was a bit pollished, you could hear their influences still being despalyed proudly on their sleeve. The title track "Race Against Time" is one of the best metal songs on the album, showcasing a very Maiden-esque vibe and Tommy Lee Floods melodic and raspy vocal approach. In 92' "Take em' by Storm" was released which included unrelased/new material and other songs from "Race Against Time". This was unfortuantly the bands swansong and they seem to have vanished into the fields not to long after. Although they do have a website that claims to have some activity within this great US metal band, there is nothing confriming a solid comeback. Fans of US power metal should invest in getting these albums if possible.
