Band: Mastodon

Mastodon pick up where Lethargy left off. They take the chaotic technical hardcore sound and hone it to a fine craft. The songs here are more structured, the vocals are a little more palatable (though nothing to get excited about), and the musicianship is still top-notch, especially the drumming. Brann Dailor is a monster behind the kit. Each release sees them honing their craft and garnering both critical acclaim and success. It's rare that a band can be both praised by critics and adored by fans, but Mastodon pull it off.
