Band: Neurosis

Neurosis began life as a pretty rough hardcore band, and that influence has certainly carried over through all of their releases, albeit increasingly diminished as time goes on. What they have evolved into is a brilliant form of slowly-developed, layered, ambient doom and hardcore. Some are put off by their slower approach, while others find their sound hypnotic.
I know I haven't done them proper justice with my description, as they really are a band that must be heard.

Neurosis also releases albums under the name Tribes of Neurot. Those albums represent their more experimental side, which is a feat considering how experimental Neurosis already is.

Recently, they released a CD in collaboration with Jarboe, who I believe was the singer in Swans at one point. They have completed work on an as-yet-untitled new CD for a summer 2004 release.
