Band: Anthrax

Anthrax began playing a style that was similar to late 70s British metal but soon developed a speedy thrash sound much like that being developed in San Francisco. Much of their earlier work was laced with some cynical humour that Benante and Ian carried to an extreme with SOD. In 1990 they prouced one of the best thrash albums ever with "Persistence of Time" but following this Anthrax was forced to ground due to a widening rift between Belladonna and the rest of the band that culminated in the singer being fired in 1992. "The Sound of White Noise" ushered in a new direction that was somewhat sludgier and heavier with more rock elements entering the sound. The 90s were fairly lean years for the band as they lost Spitz and bounced from label to label but "We've Come for You All" showed that Anthrax still has plenty to offer.

The band's 'classic' line-up reformed in 2005 for touring purposes; after this Belladonna left the group and with Bush not returning the band was without a permanent singer for almost two years until Nelson was announced in December 2007.
