Band: Redemption

Redemption is a project formed by Nick Van Dyk, who was able to recruit several members of Fates Warning to play on his CD (as well as others). The end result is an excellent slab of power/prog metal. The music has hints of Fates Warning, Iron Maiden, and many other bands, but the sound is quite distinct. This is the kind of music that sticks in your head for a while, but you actually like that it did. IMO, their S/T debut is one of those rare releases that successfully bridges the gap between the complexity of prog and melody of power metal. Fans of either genre should eat this stuff up; it's easily one of the better releases of 2003.
They followed that one up in 2005 with "The Fullness of Time", which many believe to be a superior effort. I am one of the rare few who prefer the debut. Since then, they've signed to InsideOut and have a 3rd album coming in Spring 2007
