The Third and the Mortal's early works treaded the line between doom metal, goth metal, and goth rock quite closely. Angelic vocals on top of slow, plodding, heavyish music were the order of the day. After "Tears Laid in Earth" they moved away from metal into a softer gothic rock sound. Some of their later material is reported to have a bit of an electronica feel to it.
