Band: Sleep

Location:
Status:

Sleep was the slowest, sludgiest doom band of all. Their lyrics were almost exclusively about dope and their riffs are so immense and glacial they make even Skepticism sound like a speed metal band. The 'Jerusalem' album is one hour-plus long track, originally recorded as an even longer monster called 'Dopesmoker' but ultimately released in a slightly shorter version with different lyrics. The original version was finally released in mid-2003, ten years after the band broke up.
