Band: Blind Guardian

Blind Guardian are one of the foremost European power metal bands. They incorporate some elements of classical music and focus on medieval lyrical content. Vocalist Hansi Kürsch has one of the most unique and interesting voices in metal, and I quite like it. The music is less repetitive than most Euro power bands, but it still isn't as varied as I like. "Nightfall" is my personal favorite, as it's a concept album about a Tolkien novel. I generally prefer their early material, though. "A Night at the Opera" has recently been released to mixed reviews, with some (myself included) feeling the music is lost in the grandiose production. Still, these guys are the best of the Euro power bands.
