As one of the pioneering bands in the use of contrasting male/female vocals, Theatre of Tragedy helped to establish the Goth/doom genre. Early albums are in a death/doom style but the band changed significantly towards a more ambient direction with "Aegis". The later albums are techno releases and not metal at all.
