Band: Girlschool

Girlschool was an early English metal act with a raw and stripped-down sound quite similar to Motorhead, though with obviously more melodic vocals. Later in their career they went for a polished, LA-style pop-metal sound that caused them to drop from favour but the first two albums particularly were harder and heavier than many of the other bands on the NWOBHM scene. After splitting in the late 80s, Girlschool reformed about ten years later.

Original guitarist Kelly Johnson died of cancer on July 15, 2007.
