Band: Sentenced

Sentenced started as a very young death metal band (all members were under 20), but as the members matured, the music matured. Their second album is a technical death metal masterpiece and third one, Amok, is one of the greatest melodic death/heavy metal albums of all time (IMO of course). After the singer change, the band has gradually turned more mellow, and can be nowadays described as something between heavy metal and gothic rock. Unlike many bands that have mellowed during the years, Sentenced has still been able to produce great albums and all of them are recommended listening (maybe with the exception of Crimson which is rather mediocre).

Miika Tenkula died on Feb. 19, 2009 aged 35.
