Destruction were among the originators of German thrash, existing alongside Kreator and Sodom since the early 80s. They really hit their stride with Cracked Brain but afterwards went in a misguided groove metal direction for a few years until Schmier rejoined (the three releases after Cracked Brain have been officially disowned by the band). Since then have been remarkably consistent, pumping out good quality energetic thrash ever couple of years of so.
