Band: Dio

Ronnie James Dio has been in the recording business since 1957 (despite claiming his year of birth as 1949 -- this is clearly not the truth) but came to worldwide prominence first with Rainbow and later Black Sabbath. Dio was formed in 1983 and has existed in various forms ever since. During this time the band has created work of surprisingly consistent high quality. All of the albums up to 'Dream Evil' are virtual masterpieces and even the later ones are excellent, with the exception of 'Angry Machines', which is a rather misguided attempt at a more aggressive sound that simply doesn't work, and the over-hyped 'Magica' which is particularly uninspired.
