Blut aus Nord began as part of the Black Legions: a group of French black metal bands that wanted to do old-school black metal.
Their two first albums were amazing as old-school black metal mainly because of the use of epic and melodic riffs. 'Ultima Thulée' is almost Burzumesque, mainly because of their use of the keyboard. 'Memoria Vetusta' is their best work in my opinion.
Their third album, 'The Mystical Beast of Rebellion', marked the end of an era : the evolution into a dissonant black metal act was beginning.
The Work Which Transforms God is a mix between the agressive dissonance found in their previous album and a more ambient-oriented approach.
Thematic Emanation Of Archetypal Multiplicity is much more ambient.
A new album, MoRT, is due this year.
