Band: Skid Row

Discovered and originally managed by Jon Bon Jovi, Skid Row was often misrepresented as a hair-metal band but their recorded output shows them to be, unquestionably, heavy metal. Fantastically catchy, rocking heavy metal, in fact, with outstanding vocals and blazing guitar-work. "Slave to the Grind" became the first metal album ever to debut at No. 1 in the US, ironically only months before grunge almost wiped metal out for good. Like so many others, the band faltered after this but still managed to continue into the mid-90. When Bach left/was fired after "Subhuman Race" Skid Row was effectively over, although they had since reformed with a new vocalist.
