Band: Guns N' Roses

Guns N' Roses burst onto the scene in the mid-80s with a sound that combined razor-sharp sleaze metal and punk rock attitude. With a look inspired as much by the LA hair/sleaze scene as it was by Sex Pistols and the New York Dolls, GNR took the world by storm in 1987 with "Appetite for Destruction". With a mix of metal, glam and street-level punk rock it shook the rock world to its foundations, going on to become the biggest-selling rock debut album of all time. "Use Your Illusion" was an ambitious and often self-indulgent dual release that continued their dominance but internal volatility and the unpredictable behaviour of Rose soon tore the band apart. Rose has continued to work with varying short-lived line-ups ever since while promising another album, but it remains to be seen if this will be forthcoming. While one of the biggest and most influential bands of a generation, it is unlikely that Guns N Roses can once again attain any relevance.
