Heavens Gate was formed in the spring of 1987, under the name Carrion. They are probably one of the most underrated power metal acts and IMO a classic in the genre. The band had the services of two well known multi-instrumentalists in Sascha Paeth, the known producer/musician and Robert Rizzo. Thomas Rettke's distinct voice was a perfect fit for the band, and the whole talented musicianship were just outstanding as well as the quality of the songs, very catchy, and late in their career with a prog touch but still with that melodic power metal sound.
