"Cerbero was formed in 1980 in Sao Paulo, Brazil by the brothers Marco and Carlo Tonalezzi on guitars and Sergio Goncalves on bass and vocals. With the addition of Tony Fontao on Drums in 1981 Cerbero's classic formation was complete.

The idea was to play the fastest and heaviest metal we could come up with and at the same time keep it musical and interesting for our audience and us. The band started gigging at several new venues that were opening up in Sao Paulo. Just to name a few: Rainbow Bar, Lira Paulistana, Carbono 14, Vila Mariana and Fofinho Rock Club.

In a very short time, Cerbero amounted a considerable number of very loyal friends and fans, which packed every show. At the time, the beginning of what would become a major movement towards a more aggressive, fast and powerful form of Metal was taking place. The terms Thrash, Power and Speed Metal had just started to appear. Metallica, Motörhead, Iron Maiden and Anthrax were doing very good and Cerbero was doing it's best to become Brazil's prime example of that new form of Metal.

In 2005 in order to mark the 25th Anniversary of the band's formation, Cerbero released the "Official Bootleg Live at the Rainbow, SP, Brazil 1983" CD which is one of the very few recordings available from what many consider to be the very first Thrash/Speed/Power Metal band from Brazil. These recordings were made live with bare minimum equipment. Come to think of it, it is pretty amazing that they even exist al all. With that said...we hope that you enjoy these recordings for what they are...a bunch of guys giving all they've got and an amazing amount of energy being exchanged between the band and the audience!

Cerbero made the move from Brazil to the U.S.A (NYC) in 1985 and the main objective was to find a singer who would have the same passion for true metal and deliver it with with the same power and energy as the band itself...and that singer was Aerik Von (Rampage/Black Moon Rising/The Von Frankensteins/Dresden Wolves)." From their bio.
