Death are one of the pioneers of death metal. Gradually the releases became more focused on technical and progressive songwriting and lyrics. Death disbanded as Chuck Schuldiner went on to form Control Denied, then reformed and recorded their final CD after Control Denied had trouble finding proper label support. Then, Death was disbanded again in favor of continuing Control Denied. Sadly, Chuck has since passed away, thus sealing the fate of both bands.
