Band: Extinction

Extinction is a one-man Black Metal band from England and was created 1998 circa. Style-wise, Extinction has its own sound - somewhere between dark Norse BM and Beherit, although it is hard to describe. Releases like "The Black Hex" and the unreleased "Pain Ritual" are of a different calibre, possibly more comparable to Abruptum.
Generally, the philosophy and approach behind the project is of the one-man getting lost in a trance-like state of darkness. Extinction has also created other eccentric pieces involving dissonant and solo Cello, and references to the medieval "Lachrymae" in an unconventional and depressive way. Cut off from the scene by no contact information made available, nor more than a handful of interviews to speak of. This is a truely sick, sincere and "real" example of how underground Black Metal should be.
