Band: Whitesnake

Location:
Status:

Whitesnake began as a heavy blues band after the dissolution of the final Deep Purple line-up in 1978. By 1980, three-fifths of that band were back together in Whitesnake and the group's music took on a more metallic sound in tune with the style of the day. 1987 was the band's masterpiece but led to allegations of the band directly ripping off Led Zeppelin, particularly on "Still of the Night". Coverdale fired the entire line-up before the album was released and Whitesnake has existed more or less as his solo project ever since. After several periods of idleness, the group was reactivated in 2008.
