Band: The Cancer Conspiracy

If you like The Cancer Conspiracy, you should also check out: Dysrhythmia, Echosilence, Riverside

Location:
Status:

The Cancer Conspiracy play a instrumental blend of jazz, atmospheric rock and technical metal, very similar to Dysrhythmia but more laid back. Their blend of technical metal has more elements of jazz than most, even utilizing a sax during many of the songs. Excellent stuff; prog, tech, and jazz fans should all find something to enjoy here. The name of the band is based on a theory that drug companies are withholding a cure for cancer because it wouldn't be profitable for them. They apply that theory to the musical industry, basically making themselves the cure for pop music, which of course the labels want to force you into accepting because it isn't satisfying so you always want more. It's an interesting application of an interesting theory, and so very true.

After having their touring van stolen, with all their instruments inside, the band called it a day somewhere around 2003. If you can track down The Audio Medium, you will have one of the greatest instrumental albums I've ever heard.
