Band: Manitou

Many prog metal fans simply know Manitou as "Spiral Architect's singer's former band", which is sad. "Entrance" is one of the finest prog metal discs released to date. An easy comparison is mid-period Fates Warning, but heavier, more technical, and with a much better vocalist. Really, every time I listen to this disc I enjoy it more than the previous time. There was talk of recording a follow-up as recently as early 2002, but nothing has come of it. Whatever the case, prog metal fans should track down this disc (it's out of print) because it's fantastic. The band was originally named Powerslaves in 1985.
