Psychrist played a powerful maelstrom of black-tinged death metal (or death-tinged black metal -- it's hard to be sure!). 'The Abysmal Fiend' is raw and coarse, but inspired. Later albums showed a greatly improved and mature Psychrist; the first of which was recorded in 1996 but not released for over four years. A crushing and brutal band.
