Time of Orchids play an eclectic mix of styles, making it hard to pigeonhole them in any particular genre. Their debut album shows quite a bit of diversity, ranging from short, frenetic grindcore pieces, to technical hardcore songs, to long, overdone atomspheric doom numbers. It's quite a good album that suffers only from subpar production. After that they released the eclectic "Much Too Much Fun" with Kate Pierson of the B-52s on vocals. It's something that has to be heard. Then they moved into Maudlin of the Well/Kayo Dot land.
Time of Orchids is ann often overlooked player in the avant-garde northeastern United States scene.
