Band: Mutant
"MUTANT was brought into existence in September 1998 when Peter Lake and Henrik Ohlsson, from the technical death metal band THEORY IN PRACTICE , decided to create something that was a bit darker and more evil than their original band`s music.
With Peter as songwriter and Henrik as lyricist they created five songs of blasting black metal that were recorded in December 1998 under the name of "Eden Burnt to Ashes", a demo CD that was to be highly appreciated by labels and magazines.
After receiving great reviews in the metal press and being played at metal radio stations in the States a number of labels offered MUTANT to sign for them. After carefully checking all of them out, french label Listenable records was chosen.
In May 1999 MUTANT started recording what will be their debut album ‘The Aeonic Majesty’. It contains 9 tracks of sheer terror and blinding harmonies. From the sadistically ‘demonworlds’ with its ear slashing riffiing and ultra speed fancy to the mind disturbing ‘abduct to mutate’, MUTANT go through years of experience from exploring the world of music to create something superior and unique for this particular genre.
Althought heavily rooted soundwise to the black metal style, MUTANT are definitely not your regular black metal newcomer. Straying away from the typical devil imagery, they ‘re not afraid to explore new sounds and lyrical concepts that offer them a certain freshness and a more modern approach. It has been quite a long time a band had not shown such conviction in a such an extreme music style. Not hiding behind silly make up, MUTANT tear the whole place with anger, speed and creativity.
MUTANT feature members of the band of the famous technical death metal frenzy THEORY IN PRACTICE whose second album is coming out on LISTENABLE as well.
Outstanding packaging / lay out done by GRAAL."
