King's X is one of the most important acts in the development of modern progressive metal, perhaps second only to Dream Theater in terms of influence and reverence. King's X is truly a progressive band, with every album moving on from the one before. Their early works explored Christian themes but since Pinnock was denounced by the church in 1998 for being homosexual they have abandoned this aspect for more general social comment. An excellent band.
