Band: Artch

One of the most influencial scandanavian metal bands, Artch brought to the table a melodic mix of Euro-style Power metal with a traditional edge. It was in 1989 that Artch made heads turn with their classic "Another Return to Church Hill". The album romped along with classic Iron maiden-like over tones and melodies and moved through power/thrash metal passages. Vocalist Eirikur Hauksson (better know as Eric Hawk) gave the band an even rougher edge with his melodic but yet harsh vocals, who many would compare to classic bruce dickenson-style. The band took two years and then released the album "For the Sake of Mankind" which had a much cleaner production and showed a strong progression in their songwriting. Unfortuantly due to label politics and many other problems outside the band, Artch sadly called it day shortly after the release of the album.

In late 1999 they reformed but have yet to record anything more. Hauksson competed at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest and advanced as far as the semi-finals.
