Bands By Genre: Avant-Garde Metal
Bizarre, eclectic, or out-there are all prhases used to describe Avant-Garde Metal. Basically, since the Progressive Metal term became overused on melodic Dream Theater copycats, this subgenre was created to refer to the truly progressive bands. In the Woods, early Green Carnation, Unexpect, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and Arcturus are prime examples of this style of metal.
