Band: Silent Memorial

The evolution of Silent Memorial started with an early ninety's group called SQUADRON 41, which was formed when the Swiss guitarist, Christoph Baertschi got together with some friends to form a cover band.  But after the departure of their singer, they decided to just jam and find their own niche within the Prog Metal universe.  By 1996, armed with a new keybord player,  Christian Haenggi and the recording of a demo, the search for a lead singer lead to the recruitment of the talented Swedish vocalist Thomas Vikstrom.  Now with Michael Halbach on the bass and Jurg Friedli on drums, their lineup was complete and shortly thereafter they managed to get a recording contract with EMI.  In 1997, the band name was changed to SILENT MEMORIAL, and they recorded their first album "Cosmic Handball", which was released in 1998.....Only In Asia!!!!!

After that snafu, Michael and Jurg parted ways with the band, but Christoph and Christian continued to compose to keep the band alive.  By 2005, Silent Memorial was again searching for a lead singer.  This search culminated with the joining of Mike Andersson who had been fronting the Swedish melodic metal band "Cloudscape"!  With the addition of Sugar Burns on Bass and Diego Rapacchietti on the Drums, Mike entered the Rostinghouse Studio in Sweden to record all the vocals for Silent Memorial's 2nd album "Retrospective" in 2006.  With Rostinghouse Studio's Pontus Lindmark's mixing of the new album complete in early 2007, Silent Memorial is now searching for a recording label to release their 2nd album.
