Band: Symbyosis

While I have yet to hear their earlier releases, what Symbyosis has achieved with "On the Wings of Phoenix" is phenomenal. They seamlessly combine prog rock and death metal (and hints of a myriad other styles). Their website says the band began as a project that was never meant to be released, but eventually a full album was recorded and a band assembled to tour in promotion of it. After they released Crisis, they were picked up by Listenable Records who released "The Fluid" and then re-released Crisis. Unfortunately, Listenable did not think the pre-production demos for "On the Wings of Phoenix" were very marketable, so they dropped the band who had to self-finance its release. That's about all I know at this point, but if the band continues in this direction, they will be among my favorites.

The lineups are pretty much a guess, since the website is sparse with information. I'll try to research it more, but if anyone wants to correct me, feel free.
